The following sets forth privacy policy for the Dartmouth Lawyers Association ("DLA") Web site and is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service governing your use of the DLA Web site. We reserve the right to change or update this policy at any time. Any such change will be effective as of the date and time it is posted on the DLA Web site, unless otherwise expressly stated. Where possible, we will attempt to provide advance notice of any
change by posting notice of the change on the Web site or by sending email to users of the Web site who have made their email addresses available to us.
As used in this policy, "user" means any person who opens any page of the DLA Web site and the person's agents, successors and assigns. "You" and "your" mean each user. "We", "our" and "us" mean the DLA and its successors and assigns.
Our Privacy Pledge
We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of persons who use the Dartmouth Lawyers Association ("DLA") Web site. Accordingly, we will not sell or otherwise provide to any third person information that identifies you without your prior express approval except as necessary to:

>> Complete transactions initiated by you,
>> Comply with a law, regulation, judicial or administrative order, policy or guideline, or legal process,
>> Defend ourselves against any claim you have made against us,
>> Prosecute your breach of our Terms of Service, or
>> Enable third persons to perform services or other functions for us, including persons with which the DLA jointly offers, endorses or sponsors products or services. The DLA will require any such person to agree to use any information identifying you only for the purpose of fulfilling its agreement with the DLA.
We may collect and track information about the use of our Web site on an aggregate (i.e., group) basis, where we will not know or keep track of precisely who you are, so that we may keep track of what users may be interested in and to help us improve and market the DLA Web site. Any such information that we share with other parties will not identify or be traceable to you.
Information We May Collect from You
The computer you use to access the DLA Web site gives us a unique Internet Protocol ("IP") address. In addition, we may place "cookies" in the browser program you use to access our Web site. Cookies are small software files that can be used to facilitate the exchange of information between your computer and our server (the computer that houses our Web site).
We may use your IP address, its related packet header information, and cookies to
* help diagnose problems with our server (the computer on which our Web site resides),
* administer our Web site,
* save your password so you don't have to re-enter it repeatedly,
* help identify you on portions of our Web site that depend on tracking your identity, such as in our Community Forum, and
* gather information about how our Web site is used.
Although you can block our server from placing cookies in your browser program, certain portions of our Web site may not function properly without cookies.
Information You Provide to Us
From time to time, we may ask you to provide various types of your personal data, such as your name, contact information, credit card number, job-related information, and viewpoints. We may use information you provide us to:
* Send you DLA-related information, including information provided by DLA members and information about features or developments on our Web site.
* Verify your identity.
* Publish the annual DLA directory or an online directory.
* Complete transactions initiated by you, such as renewal of your DLA membership or purchase of the DLA directory.
* Provide you with, or enable you to use, other services available now or in the future through our Web site, such as an electronic bulletin board.
Bulletin Boards, News Groups and Chat Rooms
We may make electronic bulletin boards, chat rooms, news groups and other means of exchanging information available to our users. We will clearly identify the services that are accessible to any member of the public. We do not intend to monitor, moderate, screen or otherwise be responsible for the contents of information posted to any of these services. You must exercise your own judgment when disclosing information in these areas. To obscure your
identity, you may wish to choose a pseudonym as a user name in our Community Forum.
Your Options Regarding Use of Personal Information
Choice/Opt-Out
We provide the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us and our partners at the point where we request your information.
We offer the following means to elect to (a) remove your information from our database, (b) to not receive future communications, or (c) to no longer receive our service. You may:

Disclosure of Information
We will use and disclose information about you only as follows:
* As authorized by you.
* In connection with the normal activities of a nonprofit membership organization, including without limitation soliciting contributions or membership renewals.
* In cooperation with a request or investigation by any governmental body or governmental agency, or in response to a subpoena issued by any governmental body or governmental agency.
* To address any claim by a third party that you are using the DLA Web site in connection with an infringing, illegal or improper activity or that data you placed on our Web site infringes rights of the third party.
* In connection with a claim of copyright or trademark infringement.
* As necessary to operate our service properly, to protect ourselves or our members and subscribers, or to comply with any law, rule, administrative policy or guideline, or legal process.
In addition, content provided by you may be stored on computers maintained by and in control of our Service Provider. Any expectation of privacy by you is limited by and subject to the scope of the Service Provider's privacy policies.
Links to Non-DLA Web Pages
The DLA Web site will contain links to Web pages that are owned or operated by third persons, including members of the DLA. These links may be added by the DLA or directly by third persons.
Links to non-DLA Web pages are made available solely because they may be of interest to users of the DLA Web site. We have not reviewed the privacy policies or information collection practices at any of these Web pages. By using the DLA Web site, you expressly agree not to hold the DLA responsible or liable for any loss or other damage caused by your use of any link on DLA's Web site.
No Endorsement of Third Persons
The appearance of persons, products, services or links on DLA's Web site does not constitute the DLA's endorsement or recommendation of any of them. Any endorsements will be expressly stated and may not be implied.
Security
This site has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures designed to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. These measures may or may not be vulnerable to determined or unscruplulous hacking, and we do not guarantee complete security.
Minors
The DLA's Web site and other activities currently are intended for individuals who are age 18 or older. Accordingly, we do not knowingly collect any information from individuals who are under age 18. If we decide to offer activities or services on our Web site for individuals under age 18, we will provide advance notification on our Web site.
